The Grave of Latvian Poet Janis Rainis Father Krishjanis Pliekshan
The father of the poet Janis Rainis Krishjanis Pliekshan was born in the Stelpe area in "Pliekshani" in 1829. In 1853 he married to the house owner's daughter of Barbele area "Odini" and went away from the Stelpe area to Ilukste in the area of Chervonka. K. Pliekshan leased several manor in the nowadays Daugavpils region territory – in Birkineli, Randene and in Vasiljovo. He died in 1891 and was buried in Daugavpils Lutheran cemetery. But the poet's mother Darta Pliekshan was buried in Vitebsk (Belarus).
